Netflix Pulls the Plug on Inside Job: What it Means for Original Animation

Netflix’s recent cancellation of Inside Job makes me scared for the future of original animation on the platform;

So Netflix is at it again, prematurely driving the stake through the hearts of shows that fans enjoy, the latest casualty being Inside Job which for those who are unaware, was one of the most if not the most popular animated original series from Netflix in 2022.

It was so popular that Netflix made the announcement that it was renewed shortly after season ones release but now it seem someone at Netflix went back and pulled the plug on the popular workplace sitcom breaking the hearts of the creator and fans alike.

Many fans have stated they’d rather see an inventive show like Inside Job get renewed as opposed to the continued renewal and shoehorned stories of shows like Big Mouth which has stuck around on Netflix for six seasons, with another on the way and a spinoff series.

My question is how other shows can stand out and survive on Netflix when they constantly get put on the backburner when it comes to how the company treats them, seemingly flip flopping between keeping and cancelling new properties while keeping a show seemingly as worn down and as washed up as Big Mouth, which seems to have been given an unfair advantage.

Hopefully other streaming platforms come along and pick up the slack in the animation department, because to me its clear Netflix is a funeral home for animation at this point, I fear for the future of the medium.
